Kuching July 2009

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen

This is actually a trip for UTS JULY 09 OUTING - KUCHING.
This outing is organised by our dear Alex and Cynthia. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all the arrangement. This is my first overseas trip with UTS and I really really enjoyed it. I should say that the time spent in Kuching is to my fullest.

ACCOMODATION
Our accommodation is arranged at Harbour View Hotel from 10 to 13 of July 2009. The hotel is actually very near to the city or actually in it. We are just next to Hilton Hotel and with a view of the river. I will recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Kuching as there is alot of small snacks available at late night for supper. So no worries for people who dont sleep so early.

Opposite Harbour View Hotel, there is a very colourful building which is like the cineplex we had but there is only cinema in it. Too bad we have not enough time for a show.

PLACES TO VISIT

This photo is actually taken just opposite our hotel along the river. I didnt get hold of the name of this river. It seems like a quieter version of Singapore River. Along the river there is a few small stores serving food and drinks, and it is not so crowded. There is a boat that cost around RM$60 to tour the river, I think no food is served.

I was being told that there are 3 caves in Kuching but we only went to 2 of them. The first one that we went is WIND CAVE. The operating hours for the cave is from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. The entrance fee of around RM$3.00 per person but we bought the group tickets which is RM$2.00 for each of us. We reach there about 3 plus which I think it is quite late. Because the cave have residents in it, BATS, and at 3 plus they are about to wake up already. So we can hear their sound very loud and clear. So dear fren, please go earlier.

By the way, the cave do not have any lights nor the sunlight can enter. The picture on the left is showing the entrance of the cave when I am in it. It is damm dark in it and the floor is wet (dont know is the water from the rocks or from the bats -_- ) So please bring along a torchlight.... If you really forgot to bring, you can actually rent it while purchasing at the ticket counter. There is no guide to bring you around.

The next cave we went is the FAIRY CAVE. Before entering the cave, we are supposed to climb up a man made building which is 4 storeys high and with a toilet only. After climbing the 4 storey steps then we arrive at the door step of the cave. And if you think this is over, then you are very wrong. You have to climb more steps after that. The cave is full of stairs, so please dont bring elderly to this cave.
This is the full view of fairy cave.

This shop is introduced by Cynthia, being well-kwon for its snacks like biscuit and crackers. Not only delicious and also at reasonable price. I have bought one cracker known as the black sesame rice cracker. It is not very sweet but tasty, very suitable for elderly and youngsters like it too. So remember to buy this for gift to relatives or frens.

Kuching is well-known for their peppers. I dont know whether you guys actually realise that the pepper powder we bought here is no longer spicy and tasty. So if you are going to Kuching, dont forget to buy back few more bottles to keep. They have lots of choice for you, such as in powder form or in seeds, and black or white. You can get it from this store >>>> the people there is very friendly and they give discount instantly.

Last but not the least, dont forget to take a photo with the big cat in the city. Kuching is CAT in malay so you can find a lot of cat statue in the city but this cat is at the best place where you can park the car by the road side and have a photo with it. If no photo is taken with it, it means you have not been to Kuching.

FOOD

We had our first dinner in Kuching at Bukit Mata. It is actually like a hawker centre at the top floor of a multi-storey carpark. There is a lot of stores like Bukit Mata at the top floor but Cynthia recommend this as there is more choices. We ordered mee ding (a kind of wild vegtables only found in Kuching), fried cereal prawns, chilli crab, steam fish, bamboo shells, and oyster omelette.

This is my first breakfast in Kuching. We did not purchase the breakfast from hotel but to ask Cynthia to drive us out for it. We prefer to try the breakfast the locals alwayshave. This shop is called FOOD Dynasty which is owned by Cynthia's brother. The shop consist 2 parts, one is the seating area and the other side is where all the stalls are. They have quite a number of stalls that sell chicken rice, kuching's popular kolo mee, porridge, kuching laska, etc.
I will like to recommend my fren to try the special drink aka ice tea but it has 3 colors, white, brown and black. So dont forget about it.

We had the 2nd night dinner at a place that looked like a lounge at near to the caves, a stand alone lounge. They are well-known for the wild meat. But didnt dare to try too much, we only ordered wild boar meat and deer meat.

2nd breakfast in Kuching. We went to another coffee shop to try out the food. This time we have pau, kolo mee, laksa, and tomato noodles.

This is the best place I like in Kuching and also having my last dinner in Kuching. It has delicious food, fabulous atmosphere, nice drinks, and even board games to play. It is only opened in the evening for dinner or evena chill out place after dinner, and is opened till 12 midnight. It is very near our hotel, just across the street and pass through a small alley you will be able to see this cafe across the street.

Their western food is very nice. Having lamp shoulder, pasta, or even small bites like heart shaped nuggets. lol, so cute

This is our last breakfast in Kuching as we will be taking the flight back that evening. And the last breakfast is KFC. lol I am surprise that they actually have chicken rice and also soup for it.

This is the last meal we had before heading to the airport. It is at the rural area, near to the sea or the mangrove where you will have a wide view of the water and sky. And of course we had seafood over here. I can just tell you that the seafood at Kuching is very very fresh, you must try

Dont want to get bored and yet wanna visit Kuching? You might want to try visiting in July where they are holding the annual music festival. So check on the net for the dates before booking your air tickets >.<

Oh ya, I forgotten on the shopping part. I only went to 3 shopping malls during my trip and I think the best one I find is The Spring. They have a supermarket and international brands of clothing, shoes and bags in the mall which I think it is enough for men and women. And of course the price will also be international price lo.hehee

I like the life in Kuching, it is so peaceful, no stress and pressure. It is really nice to stay there, hope you guys can also visit this relaxing place. So that's all folks for Kuching. Thanks for reading and look forward for my Batam trip hahahaha Cya =)

Me and My Thots

Career: I am out of job again......
The new work place doesnt seems to work too well on me. This is the first time I am able to play and browse facebook till I feel so sick. Some people will think that I am damm stupid, isnt it nice to have a job that does not have a lot of things to do. But to me, I feel that I am so useless in the company. Felt like a vase, even though I am not pretty. hehe.... So I decided to left and have another position which will keep me busy at the same time, allow me to learn more in the faculty I am in.

Love Life: How is the waiting.........
One fine sunday evening (sounds like primary school composition), where my bf and I went out for dinner. We happened to saw a guy standing at my neighbour's house whose unit is near the lift. When the lift came, he got in and went down with us. We overheard that my neighbour is intending to sell off their house. We felt so happy when we hear that because we always wanted to get a unit near by and this is damm near lo. We managed to get hold of the uncle with the help of my parents and went in to take a look plus asking on the price they are looking at.
Now I felt so contridicting..... I dunno whether to hope that my neighbour faster sell the house or hope that they dont sell first. Reason? He had not proposed to me, I dont want to just get married because of the house. He told my parents 2 more years, I dunno it is 2 more years then proposed or 2 more years then married. I also dont know.
Just now I just went to meet 2 of my frens. One who is younger than me, ROM already. The other one getting married next year. So envy............. >.<

Forget it la, let nature take its course. I will continue with my waiting...............

Tomorrow will be very busy for me. Need to load the photos, need to arrange them in orders. hai, so busy wor
So now me go rest lo, u guys must go rest too.... good night *0*
